Abstract

The article presents a Marxist analysis of the contemporary ecological crisis, focusing on the climate issue. Technocratic proposals to solve the problem of increasing global temperature through financial investments and the use of clean technologies are criticized, and the formulations that, coming from the democratic field, have been aimed at building a “Green New Deal” are critically analyzed. It is argued that a consequent socialist environmental policy cannot do without the combination of social revolution and environmental revolution, which can only be done within the scope of a project to overcome capitalism.
