Utilitarismo e Teoria Neoclássica: uma reflexão sobre a natureza ideológica da ciência econômica
Abstract
This work aims to discuss the ideological nature of neoclassical economics. In order to do so, it first examines the notion of ideology, as well as the question of ideological neutrality and its possible connection with conservative standpoints regarding society and its organization. Next, it presents utilitarianism as one of the candidates for an ideological element of neoclassical theory, in addition to some of its potential theoretical and practical implications. Finally, it exposes and comments arguments in defense of neoclassical rationality and explores, within the existing limitations, questions that could arise from the considerations presented.
Keywords: Ideology; neoclassical economics; utilitarianism; utility; rationality.
